Who was the website thought for?

In the process of designing a new section for the Netflix app, our primary focus was on creating an inclusive and user-centric experience that caters to a diverse audience, regardless of age, background, or preferences. The user personas we kept in mind span a broad spectrum, starting with children and families who seek a safe and entertaining space, featuring kid-friendly content recommendations, parental controls, and an intuitive interface. For teens and young adults, the aim was to provide a dynamic and trendy environment, featuring trending shows, personalized recommendations, interactive elements, and social sharing options. Adults, on the other hand, can expect a seamless and sophisticated experience with a diverse content library, advanced filtering options, easy navigation, and personalized suggestions based on their viewing habits. The interface caters to seniors by offering simplified navigation, larger font options, voice command capabilities, and easy-to-understand categorization.

Why create this new page?

When the Netflix app was presented to our user testing, one thing that seemed to miss and was difficult to find and was frustrating across the users was a way to easily see what they had watched before. This is why this new section was created, we wanted to deliver to the users a better and improved User Experience by adding something so simple to use but yet so important to their experience.

Approach and Sketches

When undertaking the design of a new section within the Netflix app, our approach was anchored in preserving the sleek and iconic design that characterizes the platform while introducing an innovative "Already Watched" section to enhance user engagement. Our primary goal was to seamlessly integrate this dynamic feature into the existing interface, ensuring it was both easy to use and visually appealing. The challenge was to maintain the sophisticated aesthetics of Netflix while infusing a touch of fun and interactivity into the "Already Watched" section, such as the "Your Top 10 Movies This Year". Through careful consideration of user feedback and behavior, we incorporated playful elements that elevate the user experience, making the process of revisiting favorite content an enjoyable and visually dynamic journey. This approach not only aligns with Netflix's iconic design principles but also enhances user satisfaction by seamlessly blending sophistication with a touch of entertainment within the app.
